Snow has arrived.

So, winter has finally hit our little part of the world.  It started on Sunday night and we were snowed in for two days.  Roads in were closed on Monday and Tuesday.  I would say, we probably received 6-8" of snow.  Honestly, I loved it.

This is the bottom of our sliding glass door that leads from our bedroom to the deck. It shows how high up the glass the snow was.  Our cat was totally enthralled with the snow as it fell. Of course she had never seen snow before.  It was quite comical in fact, watching her take up a position in front of the sliding glass door that goes from the kitchen to the patio.  I guess you would call it our back door. She stretched out, tail swishing. It was so cute and funny.

Our deck reminded me of fields we passed through in New Mexico and Colorado when I was a girl. They build special wooden fence structures to catch the snow drifts.  On our deck, the open space between the slats made a really cool looking pattern.

For me, it really wasn't that bad to be housebound, which is a totally different outlook than I had before we moved.  I love our house now.  After about ten years in our old house, I honestly hated it.  But truth be known, it just didn't have very good memories for me.  Almost lost my husband to colon cancer, that was very trying time in that small house with three kids. At one point we had my oldest daughter living with us while she was pregnant. Then she married the baby daddy and moved away from us. To another state.  I can kind of understand, she is back in the town she grew up with, and lots of her friends are still there.  But, it did kind of hurt that she took the baby and moved to another state.  Just saying. It is also the house my mother died in.  We brought her to live there so hospice could care for her and she wouldn't be all alone in some nursing home.  We knew it was terminal going in to it, but it was still very hard to get over.

I will leave you with this photo of our yard. That is my chicken coop, with the green deck that can barely been seen.  Our drive way to the back of the house is under there somewhere.
